Prejudice is everywhere!

This is one of my own original piece from my "Love without prejudice" series. It has soft, calm colors. I kept the wood in its original shape. I just washed away the dirt, and painted ignoring the gaps and holes. The wood just enhances the shabby chick in this folk art/primitive piece. The two women have such lovely faces, that to My husband made the base with reclaimed antique wood. I used pencil, markers, painted with Acrylics and it's ready to hang! The piece is 24"x16 1/2" or ~61 cm x 42 cm. It is heavy. Initialed on the front (I.C.) and signed on the back.
The problem that I ran into with this piece was not the "Black and White " . I had negative comments about the fact that the characters are both females! This is funny, and I am in shock! Really? You get "advertising for filthy lesbians" out of this? I absolutely did not have sex in mind when I painted this piece (hence the cottage chick innocent look). You , on the other hand..... I have a great answer for those few "art critics". If I managed to invoke such a horribly strong feeling in you, I did my job! Apparently I created a masterpiece! I thank you for letting me know that your souls were so deeply touched, However, I do recomend an appointment with your optometrist, and a pshychologist . Best wishes,
Iolanda
PS the piece is for sale in my Etsy store :)
